As v Unley at AHS #1

Bs v Unley at Kingswood Oval

Cs v Ingle Farm at Ingle Farm P.S.

Ds 144 defeated by Ingle Farm 6/186 (21 Jan)

The Ds went down to Ingle Farm at home. We won the toss and bowled first and bowled pretty well with a depleted attack but five dropped catches cost us dearly and had us chasing 186 instead of a much smaller score. Clarky again bowled well picking up 3/30 and Chamara took 2/45. Hasith (1/30) and Ghehaan (0/25) bowled very well but without luck. Hasith (48) and Marsland (27 no) were the best of our bats.

Please note: No one day games on 28 Jan - Test weekend.

AHOS 8/127 def Fulham 6/125

AHOS recorded its second win in the 20/20 tournament last night in an exciting match at AHS #1. Batting first, we got off to a flyer with Kempy (31) and then Tilly (27) moving the score along with some lusty hitting. A fine partnership at the end between Dolly (21) and DB proved crucial as they steadied the innings after a middle order collapse and ensured we batted out our 20 overs.

The boys then bowled and fielded with intensity throughout Fulham's innings and the game went down to the last ball. Damith continued his bowling form from the weekend and strangled Fulham's flow whenever he came on, taking 2-9 off his 4 overs. Dolly (1-19) also bowled an excellent line and length.

Two wins, two losses on the weekend; T20 this Tues

A mixed weekend for the club. The Cs and Ds both had great wins; this sets up both teams for a crack at the finals. The As and Bs both lost defending small first innings totals after fielding depleted teams with players still away.

As 105 & 5/40 def by Brighton 258

Not a good day at the office for the As playing the top side in the division. Thilanka bowled well to take 3 wickets and 'could easily have had six' according to Charlie Giles, who put in a trojan effort (with Shawry injured) to bowl 26 overs straight. We want to get back on track next game against Unley who are only a win above us on the ladder.

Bs 126 def by Penfield Central Districts 283

The Bs made things hard for themselves by failing to post a competitive total after being 2-85 at tea. Patto was the best of the bats with 55. While the game was over by tea on the second day, the boys toiled and never dropped their bundle to bowl Penfield out and get maximum bowling points. Nick Kokoschko (4-66) got some early breakthroughs to give us some hope. Gihan, in his first game in the Bs, bowled a consistent line and was thus rewarded (8 overs, 2-7) and Shiv chipped in at the end (2-21). Nick Thomson continued to impress since coming up and bowled a great line (15 overs, 1-28). Just as with the As, a must-win game at Unley next-up.

Cs 169 & 5/60 def Grange 91

A good win against top 4 opposition was set-up on the first day by a good team performance with the bat: Shanith (34), Mihiranga (40), Kerin (20), Modra (17) and Gav Carter (17) steered the team to 169 and then the boys snared a wicket in the final overs of the first day. They pushed their advantage on day 2 and never let Grange into the match. Janaka again put in a sensational performance bowling tight areas (9 overs, 5-14). He was well supported by Kasun (3-30) who followed up his bowling success with a tidy 29no in the 2nd innings.

D Grade  8/253 defeated Adelaide Uni 119

The Ds had a big, percentage boosting win against Adelaide Uni. Amal was unstoppable with the bat scoring 130 in 30 overs for his maiden century for the club. Dharshana added 32 with other players chipping in to build our big score. Clarky did the early damage (3/20) with the ball and then Damith cleaned up with 5/42. Only dropped catches stopped us having an even bigger win.

Tues 17th - AHOS 20/20 vs Fulham at AHS #1 at 5.20pm

Tuesday night is our deferred T20 match against Fulham at the school. So while there's no training Tues evening, get down as usual and support the boys to make it two from two.

Carrick-Smith (c), Amarasinghe, Kemp, Dharmabandu, Amal, Damith, W Stokes, Dollman, Giles, Bakewell, Patterson
